Brad Sever
Brad, a dedicated member of the PBLWorks National Faculty since 2010, is the author of the influential book, 'Sustainable Project-Based Learning: Five Steps for Designing Authentic Classroom Experiences in Grades 5-12 '. His passion for integrating SEL, PBL, and PLCs is palpable, and he has shared his expertise through dynamic keynote speeches and leading professional development in Project-Based Learning worldwide.
He currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. During his time in the role, he has helped create and sustain a successful Instructional Coaching Program and helped to grow the school’s International Baccalaureate Programme and parts of its dual credit program. Brad has also served as the school Testing Coordinator and 504 Coordinator, and during his tenure at Carmel High School, he has overseen the social studies, math, and science departments. Recently, Brad has overseen CTE programming and worked to integrate multiple departments of Communications, Art, Business, Engineering, and FACS into one Polytechnic Department, including 26 Career Pathways that include PBL, dual credit, and work-based learning experiences for students.
Brad has been an educator since 2002. Before his current role, Brad has served as a Project-Based Learning Coach and an Instructional Coach in a large urban district, as an Assistant Principal for an Expeditionary Learning Charter School, and as a Middle School Teacher, where he helped develop an integrated Social Studies and Language Arts PBL course.
Brad holds a B.S. in Secondary Social Studies Education from Huntington University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Ball State University. Brad completed over 30 hours of coursework towards his Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Ball State University. Brad is trained in Cognitive Coaching, Expeditionary Learning, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and has attended numerous trainings on Equity and Inclusion. His practical approach to professional development comes from the variety of experiences and perspectives he has gained.
