Joe Grit

Joe is a former high school chemistry and forensic science teacher in West Michigan. Outside of high school chemistry and forensics, he has also taught middle school science and STEM courses, and has been involved in research on the Nature of Science (NOS) and science inquiry. Joe has worked with schools on both the planning and implementation of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and is passionate about supporting teachers and administrators on developing and sustaining PBL. He is now the Director of a K-8 school with a strong emphasis on PBL.

Joe is also dedicated to designing and implementing authentic projects that engage, motivate and challenge all learners. His diverse teaching experience, coupled with his passion for authentic and sustainable learning, has enabled Joe to spread and facilitate high-quality professional development. He is continually motivated by the stories from other teachers and districts on how PBL has cultivated curiosity and deepened the learning amongst students and staff. Joe earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Grand Valley State University.
