Amal Giknis

PBLWorks National Faculty member Amal Giknis also teaches students at Science Leadership Academy, a Project Based Learning public high school in Philadelphia. On a daily basis, Amal sees the ways in which PBL instruction can transform education toward greater equity and authenticity.

Amal has more than 15 years of teaching experience, and is a National Board Certified Teacher and recipient of the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award. She also teaches at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, and mentors new educators in the field.

Amal is passionate about supporting teachers in designing relevant learning experiences for their students. She has worked with numerous organizations as a workshop facilitator, consultant, curriculum writer, and coach.

A lifelong learner herself, Amal continually strives to improve her own pedagogy. She believes the collaboration with other educators elevates the teaching profession toward meaningful outcomes for all students.
